Behavioral Research in Aging, Neuroscience, Cognition, and Health

Interested in Becoming a Research Assistant

Thanks for your interest in joining the BRANCH Lab.

Expectations:

If you decide to join, I ask for a commitment of at least 2 semesters for at least 3 hours per week plus a weekly lab meeting (about 1 hour/week).

Research Opportunities:

Joining the lab means that you would participate in my ongoing research projects, be invited to attend lectures and workshops related to the research, and have a chance to develop some of your own research ideas and get feedback on them. It is a good opportunity to develop research experience, add to your applications for grad school or jobs, and have someone to write letters of recommendation for you.

Some of the research activities that lab members have been involved in include: practice clinical interviews, collecting and analyzing data using electronic physical activity monitors, attending conferences, designing data collection forms and questionnaires, making tables or references for manuscripts, reading and summarizing research articles, entering data, designing a research study, collecting background information on a research topic or data collection technique, discussing professional topics and applications for graduate school, organizing study materials related to research budgets and review board applications.

To apply for a position in the lab: Please send me by email:

  1. a CV
  2. a brief statement of your research interests and goals (including career or graduate school aspirations)
  3. a list of your possible available hours to participate in the lab this semester
  4. whether you want to volunteer or earn course credit for your activities in the lab

Thanks again for your interest in participating in the lab. I look forward to hearing from you.
